Makerspaces: the New Revolution in School Libraries

Leslie Preddy, AASL President

Students' needs, interests, talents, and attentions continually evolve. Librarians and all educators can create new ways to connect with patrons and re-envision facility design via makerspaces and other "maker" activities.  Considering the new wave of participatory learners and student-led learning models, the impact on engaging patrons in school libraries is tremendous, making the library a destination. Join us to delve into libraries as makerspaces, where students

(and sometimes staff and parents) create, problem solve, and develop thinking.
